Being able to say I could make a positive difference to a living creatures existence. Being able to use my sciences. Working in a team. Using my academic and practical skills together. Not working in an office...

When I started I decided that no one was going to foil me from going where I wanted to be and what I wanted to do in life. I really, REALLY, wanted to make my mark. I had a solid focus. I chose an anthem to keep me going when I started to flag ('Immortality' by Celine Dion - cheesy but it worked!) and it kept my internal fire going strong. And. I did myself proud. (Even though I say so myself). Hard bloody work, mind. But SOOOOOOOO worth it, despite the odd days when I thought "aaarrrrrggghhhhh, what was that all about then?!?!? (And headed off for a chocolate fix...).

I was chatting to a young lass this last week who is right at the beginning of her animal care studies. She looked at me with such admiration (aw shucks) as I have already achieved what she longs to be. It made me remember my own feelings of admiration I held for RVN's long before I even started my studies as an SVN. Not to be swell-headed and brag but we ARE special, ain't we...
