Short version: It depends. Sorry I can't be more definite, but it does depend on your individual circumstances. I have heard of it happening, but you'd probably be better of checking with our admin department to see if this is possible for you. They can help you work out if this is possible for you or not; it's rather rare. (Full disclosure: I run the short courses, not nurse training, so if the admin department says something different to what I do regarding your question, please believe them and not me.) They can also help you work out how much (if any) of your course fees can be funded. The phone call carries no obligation, and Ruth, Joy, Becky, Loretta and Jane are really nice. :)

The L3 Diploma is a day release schedule; so whether or not you are a full time student or a student employed in practice, you spend one or two days per week in College, the rest in practice. We run on terms, so yes, we have the usual term breaks. We also do a January start in addition to the September starts.

If you're looking for "earn while you learn" you might consider asking about an Apprenticeship - if a practice hasn't placed an apprentice in the last 12 months, they can get a £1500 bonus from the government for taking an apprentice. The pay for you isn't great, but you get some or all of your course fees funded (depending on your age and previous education) by the National Apprenticeship Service.

Again, the admin team can tell you more about this.

Hope I helped!

Cheers,
Mark
