My Hubby has a new one, a half sleeve of a dragon...... it is amazing, on one part the dragon looks like it has scratched hubby arm, and it looks so real I will get a pic and put in on

Yeah the coulour is great, the pink is so vibrant in real life and she has shaded it down gradually to then blend with my skin tone. My tattooist was great, i donlt live near her so i emailed my ideas and she drew that up and i was amazed. I have other ideas for more tattoos just need to get saving again!!!!

ah you really cant beat female tattoo artists!! they have a really elegant way of tattooing!

your thigh`s looking really good emma, keep it up! im in the middle of a thigh piece at the mo, had about 4 hours outlining at a convention and booked for 5 hours in april to try and get it finished off.eeek im, gonna be sore that day!!

out of interest does anyone have any problems with visible tattoos at work? ive asked this before, but as we`re on the subject and full of tattooed nursies...... i have one on my wrist (inside and out) and always worry that is going to be an issue.

Hi ya, yeah i had a bit of probs workin in london just with a small one on the inside of my wrist, they had a "policy" of no tattoos - is that illegal? but i plan to get a sleeve done in the next year, you can get some kind of tattoo jacket thingy to slip over your arms, police in america use them....I think it is disgraceful for anybody to discriminate against ppl because they decide to adorn their bodies!!

Hi all

I have two tattoos already but desperate for more. They are on bottom of my back and by my hip at the front, got them both done on the same day as I knew I thought I'd never go through with the pain again!! lol

BUT I'm a wuss, I cant cope with pain. I think I have no pain threshold.

I screamed all the way through my two and the man told me to shut up or he'd stop

Does EMLA Cream help at all? or does anyone have any tips for making it any less painful?

oooh the heffer-lump is gorgeous! I'm having 2 done next month, only little ones to start with, I'm having a lotus flower on the inside of my left wrist and a couple of cherry blossoms on my right ankle/ foot

Emma the flowers and shading are fantastic, its not everywhere that has someone who can do colour so light...looks great!

Ta muchly everyone!

Feeling a little less paranoid now, yes the 'scabs' are just a bit like a thin layer of tissue paper really, having a few specks rub off when applying the cream. It has been rather itchy today but I guess that is a good sign it's healing!

Couple hours after being done!

This is mine in the stages its been done in:

First session - outline and leaves

Second session - flowers coloured

3rd session in april will be shading and colour of the elephant head!!!!

The black looking pale because of the scab is normal, do what others suggest re bathing.........not that I did, I had a steaming hot shower everyday, and I used a scrubber on mine when it got a wee bit scabby.... that was only ever the edges, and it turned out fine.

This is the pic on the day I got it, still a bit bleeding there

Oh that must hurt on your thigh!! my feet were agony!! sometimes when im having a lot of work done id love to be able to hook a line up and knock myself out with rapinovet or something!! that stinging pain can be unbearable sometimes, altough i have a great guy who is very gentle and have hardly any scabbing AND only charges me E50 for each sitting-which could last 2 hrs sometimes! he is great, ive won comps with the stuff he has done on me...

WOOO welcome to the addiction that is tattoos!

I have 2 large tats on each shoulder, on my feet back and leg and i found that each of them healed differently, at the min im getting a big piece done on my shoulder with loads of diff colours, the main thing is to use cream 2-3 times a day but another this is how the artist used the gun, some go much deeper than others and this will take much longer to heal, you may find after the scabbing is gone it may itch a wee bit too, dont scratch it just gently slap your arm! it works for me!!

also if your tat is in a place where the sun will get at it use suncream - i use it daily regardlesl of sunshine or not cause it helps stop the tat fading...

I have 2 solid blck ones and was told main thing was not to pick scabs off or that will take the colour. Mine are fine and still look good many years down the line.

all normal, if you use bepanthen you barely get a scab. no picking though! if its solid black and its done well you shouldnt have to touch it up, should only need to if a bit of scab comes off too soon. after the scab comes off it goes a bit shiney and the skin looks like tracing paper, and it can look a bit faded, but once the skin has healed fully the colour comes through better. avoid covering it at all costs, just keep out of the main shower jet and dont have a bath/swim and just pat dry after. if you cover them they go all gunky and it can affect the healing and the end result. just keep well ventilated, and put bepanthen on regularly, you should know when to put the next lot on if it starts to look / feel dry, or when the last lot has absorbed. again, dont cake it on as this can make it go gunky too. with bepanthen the skin stays quite moist / greasy so you get more like floppy flakes of skin peeling like sunburn, rather than hard scabs, which can bring the colour off with them if you knock them too early. can you tell i do this regularly?!

mine did that, just dont pick it and keep applying the bepanthan cream - i was sooo worried about mine cause it was my first (and only)

just dont soak it too much (no baths, swimming etc) and if ur really worried whn ur showering, stick some clean film over it and micro pore the edges, think i did this for about a week!!

When I got my tattoo done, the guy advised me that I may have to get the black touched up every so often cos it will naturally fade. If its healing well don't worry about and certainly don't pick at it

i have 2 fairly dark tattoos and i did have to a tiny tiny bit on one of them re-done. i suspect it was because i kept poking at it.
