BRILLIANT NEWS!!! The Prime Minister has supported us and stuck to the original agreement and the bears will remain safe at their Sanctuary and we can keep on expanding to rescue more bears!!!

Hi, I have managed to get quite a few people to retweet etc on Twitter including an Olympian and Gold Medalist :-) And have sent an email to everyone in my company asking if they could sign the petition and email the Government so I hope it has gone a little way in helping to save these bears. Fingers crossed! XXX

Thought I'd update you on the situation.......................

Well the Prime Minister of Vietnam is going to review the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's report for the Centre's closure on Friday the 26th of October - so that only give us a few days to act!!

Animals Asia have also received information that just days after the Ministry of Defence ordered construction on the second phase of the Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre to cease, the director of Tam Dao National Park, Mr Tien submitted a proposal to build his own wildlife park in the same area!! Turning the Centre which was the best form of freedom to many bears into a centre of imprisonment for other animals to make money as a tourist attraction! So, as well as signing the petition and emailing the Prime Minister of Vietnam (see a few posts above to do it - this is incredibly important), the charity are also asking you to email the Ministry itself by emailing bnn@mard.gov.vn and vp@mard.gov.vn with the subject title "Stop the eviction of the Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre" and copy and paste the following into the body of the message:

"Dear Sirs,

I write to express my concern that Animals Asiaâ€™s world-class bear sanctuary is to be evicted from Tam Dao National Park by the Ministry of Defence.

To close down the only bear-dedicated rescue centre in Vietnam, would send a signal to the international community that Vietnam is not serious about ending bear bile farming and rehabilitating the bears that have suffered.

The Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre should be the pride of Vietnam, and a sign of the prestige of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Please advise the prime minister to overturn the decision to evict the bear rescue centre and honour your agreement.

If we are to have any chance of stopping this, please please send all the email, sign the petition, and re-tweet, post, forward and spread this message in every manor possible because we have to shout loud and as one if we are to be heard at all by the Prime Minister.

Please, we only 5 days to try and stop this - taking the above steps will literally take moments of your time and yet make a massive difference to the lives of the bears

I went to a talk by the CEO of Animals Asia on Thursday and she basically said if they had to re-cage the bears while the charity resconstruct a centre elsewhere - many bears will have to be put to sleep because the stress on their already psychologically damaged minds would without kill them.

So this isn't just about saving the bears' home, its about saving their lives.

Sorry to bother you again, but some people have had troubles with the three tasks, especially emailing the Vietnamese prime minister, but it is just as vital as signing the petition! So here's a little help...................

TASK ONE

The closure would see 104 rescued bears evicted, 77 Vietnamese staff made unemployed, and financial losses to Animals Asia of more than US$2 million.

Please overturn the decision to evict Animals Asia and honour your government's agreement.
