yeh i know what you mean really missing having a small furry around , as for the pet shop in question had a pair before but sold after a week, and the breeder said the mum is plump so its a good sign and if no babies are here by next week she'll have a prenatal scan to see whats going on but also im purchasing a cage from the breeder for around 75 which should have been 350 a year ago so that kind of makes me want to wait as i want the best cage for my giant

i think il agree saskia i just want a rat now!! so shouldnt rush and wait for news next week on my girly and if she isnt pregnant then ask if i can purchase the cage anyways as it wont be my fault and get the boy

really like the name dexter tho

Well, I suppose its what you feel in your heart Sarah. I think you are just dying for a new rat to be honest!!!! If you want him, go for it!! You will regret it if its too late!! Anyway, couldn't you get the girl as well when she is born? You could have a Dexter AND a SASKIA!! hehe just joking!! I would imagine it would be much same as a cat - no smell when neutered. You go for it girl

should i get the boy instead? with him being closer? is there a difference in smell between girl and boy rats? and would castrating him help with this?

Well l shall give a snobby look and stick my nose in the air and ignor the childish sniggers from the lower orders.

Apart from that have wonderful memories of visiting Sinamatella camp several times as a child. It was build high above on a ridge looking at a pan. Then there was Main camp we never stayed at and game used to wander in during the night.

At Sinamatella l remember a squashed mini, an elephant sat on it after the occupants annoyed him by hooting.

i supose il have to wait til shes born but i saw a boy rat in a shop !very! near me (bearing in mind the breeder lives in wales!) and i nearly couldnt contain myself, a little dexter right there should i get him? if so would neutering help if he smelled?

Some of the wildlife Wankie used to be wonderful, till the scum got in and started using it as a pvt hunting grounds, Gonarezou (SP) another lovley place of eles, Kruger in SA and Shamwari. Many many places of game.

some of our sheep names include dorothy, muriel, piggy,foxy,moley,beaky,nicky- as i said previously they all mean something. im just daft on our sheep.

i tend to need to see a pet before i can name it. i only ever once named a pet before i saw it and that was my old border terrier- always wanted a border called hugo so when i got the chance of a male border - thats the name he was given.

even the sheep we have are given names- the names given mean something to me, sounds daft but thats me!

I like unusual names for my Dogs, and have been known to research the meanings too.

Ruby is not unusual, and she is the only one who is not.

I have had Winema (who was an American indian women who was paramount in the peace agreement between the white me and the Indians)

Circe-pronounced sirsay, was either a greek or roman goddess who turned men into pigs

Bubble......... well the girls named her because she had a white halo on her head when we got her that looked like a bubble had burst.

I do however like human names too, I once met a Rottweiler called Colin...... it was so cool. and my cats have human names........ Sassie, well not that human, but off the cartoon aristocats, Belle, Aimee and Tommy my new addition
