My pleasure - we do offer the VCA, and we've had students go straight onto the VN diploma after finishing the VCA. http://caw.ac.uk/courses/vn/vcadl2.aspx

You'll get a lot more hands on practical knowledge with this course in addition to the theory knowledge; it will definitely be a help on the VN course. (We designed it that way.)

Make sure you ask about funding if you ring us up; you never know what offers the funding agency comes up with sometimes!

Cheers,
Mark

Re: courses

Thankyou vicki. Yes I do work in a practice :) I just needed help on where to start in the theoretical side.

Both are distance learning courses; you need to either work or volunteer in a practice for the practical component; however both of them are recognized as 'pre nursing' qualifications. (ie you're not an RVN, but you can continue on to the VN diploma after completing them.)

Kind regards,
Mark

Re: courses

Hi Jodie, these courses are good and would give you some theoretical knowledge but have you also thought about getting some work experience at a local practice? Anything you can get would be really helpful as I think the best experience you can have is practical experience and seeing a working practice. It would also be a big confidence boost before you start if you got a feel for being in practice and what each job in the surgery entails. Sorry if you already are in a practice- just wasn't sure by your post. Good luck with the training :)
