Perhaps what you need to do is just get on with it!! Set up a rota get the information for recption set up a clinic time. Then go to the partners & say I have done this, this & this, I'm gonna start next wk is that ok?? Show them how what you have already done has boosted sales already. 2 months in the summer in not that long. Some times people just want things handed to them & don't want to think about what effort they have to put in. Hopefully if everything is done for them they'll say OK go ahead. Don't walk away from the practice tho you've invested alot of time in it.If you move you'll be right back at square 1 & trust me thats not an easy place to be!!

Re: ok, what now?

ok - so quantify the rise in merchandising since you started doing this - hit them with actual figures, this should get their attention.

Re: ok, what now?

head nurse was supportive at first, we dont always get on , a long story!! but was agreeing with it ll at first she doesnt seem that interested tho, shes only in one day a week so difficult to discuss things with her. i do all the displays for the reception from wall displays to merchandising, our sales have rocketed due to all this , so they can see the effects its having, but trouble with my practise, no recognition for things we do, no encouragement, things are said and ideas put forward all good at the time, but within a week all back to how it was before, starting to lose battle and think, just go in do my work and leave at 5pm!! whats the point!!! sorri but its so frustrating,

Re: ok, what now?

I'd agree with Celine, in that if you go to your HN and come up with a plan to instigate things, then the partners will go along with it. Running nurse clinics is a no-brainer after all.

Don't be disheartened - I'm sure that it's not that they're not interested, probably more that they just haven't got round to discussing it - a simple plan of action and then just getting an 'ok', and then putting this into action tends to work best...

Ie how many nurses?

I just ask because, if you have quite a few nurses, and the HN has a degree of autonomy, then maybe he/she could present it to the partners as a fait accompli like "I've shuffled the nurses duties and on Wednesday mornings Finnagin will be doing nurse consults" - ? Or maybe thats too drastic, but I tend to find in these situations that actually, the vets don't really care, or at least, this is your little project and it means something to you. They are perfectly happy with the status quo, and will be equally happy with the changes, so long as it doesn't really change anything for them.

It's only once stuff like this gets off the ground and they notice a difference (whether its directly in the till or in referrals for things like bad teeth, lipomas on fat labs, etc) that they'll realise what a good idea it was. Sorry if that sounds a bit negative, and I'm sure everyone has appreciated your obvious enthusiasm, but you know how life is - everyone is preoccupied with the stuff that affects them directly - Are my consults on time, where are those lab results, will that person opt for surgery or pts, have I a booked a slot at the golf course, why the hell have reception booked a second kitten vax as an extra appointment last thing...? ;)

I'd ask your HN what they think your chances of this getting off the ground are, and possibly ask them to speak directly to the partners and request start dates, etc. If the partners know you have the HN's full backing, and they can demonstrate how this isn't going to leave you short of staff out the back etc, then its entirely likely they'll say yeah, go ahead, it had completely slipped my mind!!

Don't get demoralised, good luck!

Re: ok, what now?

It sometimes takes a while to make changes to a clinic schedule that has been worked since the year dot. Be patient and don't lose your enthusiasm - your bosses probably just haven't gotten round to sorting it yet - it's only been two months. Also I would imagine a lot of your clientèle would have been away over the summer and they wouldn't want to start up something new over this period, risking low turnout in case you got demoralised.

Good luck!!
