I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good surgical nursing textbook for an advanced diploma nurse level. When I did my surgical diploma, I used Fossum's for most my reading, however I don't want my students to spend $300

Re: Surgical Nursing textbook recommendations

let me know if you do I would be happy to contribute! I was debating getting that new BSAVA manual.

Re: Surgical Nursing textbook recommendations

Hiya Sazzle,

I did the exact same thing as you when I started in a specialist centre! Although one of the vets gave me their 2nd Ed Fossums when they upgraded. It was certainly my bible.

I've settled on BSAVA Manual of Surgical Principals - the new one. It's actually quite good, some of it is still basic, but ok. Then for the procedural stuff, we can supply up to 10% of Fossums and Tobias under our educational copyright licence, then hopefully they have access to these or similar within their practices so they can do further reading. But the essentials we will provide as copies.

I see scope for a decent surgical nursing textbook to be written!! Perhaps for my next project......

How about access to a vet library?
