Im working as a data analyst . So i cant train through work.

loads of colleges run A level and access to HE courses in the evenings - here's a link to the RVC entrance requirements for the VN degree to give you a rough idea of what's needed for a uni course.

If you go on the UCAS website and do course search veterinary nursing you'll be able to find out what unis run the course and what theire specific requirements are. (UCAS only deals with HE courses, not the level 3 diploma).

What field do you work in? If you're working in animal care you might be able to qualify for an apprenticeship. http://www.caw.ac.uk/courses/ac/acapl2.aspx

(We're not in the northwest, but the page explains a bit about apprenticeships and I thought that might help you.)

The issues i have , is i work 9-5 , five days a week so i need part time or long distance. I cant afford £3k that some courses are asking .

Id love to do animal mangement btec as it sounds awesome but again its full time. If there are any part time its the other end of the country and i cant relocate from the north as i have just settled here from wales.

I have 11 GCSEs A*-C grade which i got 12 years ago. I want something that i could use to qualify for uni if i need too.

Any A level suggestions if i cant find what i need ??? wish i knew what i wanted to do when i left school years ago :( xx

Pro Co in north west are offering the VN diploma funded for people who have no post GCSE qualifications. So no college fees for a practice to take on!

National Diploma in Animal Management (level 3). It was really good - covered evolution, biology, anatomy and physiology, husbandry, nutrition, welfare, behaviour and training, health and basic nursing, wildlife and exotic species. We had practical sessions in handling, grooming and husbandry as well, looking after everything from lovebirds and finches, chickens and turkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs and gerbils, chinchillas, snakes, lizards, tortoises, up to sheep, goats and Shetland ponies. We even had African land snails and some big exotic spiders. The lecturers brought their dogs into class as well so we could do practical anatomy and we also used them to learn how to clicker train and practice bandaging.

Some other ppl who are on my VN course did the same animal management course at other colleges so there are quite a few that run it. They're from places like Suffolk, Herts, Bucks and W Yorks though. Are you anywhere near Myerscough? I think they run it. Good luck,

The BTEC animal management courses all involve practical animal care so are highly unlikely to be evening courses. (Colleges have animals on site for you to care for). The course I did was aimed specifically at the over 19s and because of this it was covered intensely over a year and classed as part time so we could work as well. Trouble was because you also have to do work experience (unpaid) for one day a week that only left one free day cos the other 3 days we were in college. Most of the ppl on my course who did work had part-time evening bar and shop jobs or evening telesales.

On the plus side it was a really interesting course that I thoroughly enjoyed and it gave me the UCAS points I needed to get onto the VN degree course that I'm doing now.

I'm from Essex so I'm afraid I don't know of any course providers up your nick of the woods. Good luck :)
