Sandra, you will be fine. Its what Steph want to do and so long as she is happy, then you will be too. It will be hard, but think of it in the long term!

Cheers Vicky and Mrs D, the house will certainly be quieter....... she is the chatty one like myself. I will be left with hubby who is quiet and Daughter number 2 who is even quieter.... i will be stir crazy..lol

Apparently they have to "earn" their first visit home, so it depends on how well she does. I think possibly after about 8 or nine weeks.

Well My daughter leaves on Tue, case packed, me £350 lighter in the money dept after buying all the kit she has to take, and I have another 50 quid to stump up for spends until she gets paid!!

I am going to miss her lots.She is feeling excited but nervous too.

She has told me a few times the right title, but I always forget anyway she will be in the transport section.... whatever that is called, basically it will be up to her and others of course, to make sure that all modes of transport....ie jeeps anti mine personell carriers etc, get on the planes to wherever they are needed, she will also learn to drive all of above, under advanced driving, and must be able to handle as well as change tyres, and basic mechanics for all forms of transport in dangerous situations. She will also be able to load the transport on the planes, and could be doing that one day........ and driving royalty or dignitaries the next.

She goes to yorkshire for her advanced driving which lasts 3 months.

She is a bit of a tomboy as you can imagine.

sounds great! hope she enjoys it!! my brother is in the army and based in germany, he was a g*t in his younger years but hes a changed man now, happily married with a newborn

Daughter is home........... with her boots she has to have them shining like a new penny by the time she goes back.They bring them home to break them in.

She has had a ball, and thoroughly enjoyed herslef, even though she said it was really really hard, and getting up at 5am standing outside your barracks in shorts and t shirts and raining, waiting on the sergeant to appear.......... 15 mins later was not her favourite thing, she still loved it.

Well my daughter is thoroughly enjoying her induction, i got a text today to say she was not coming home as she was enjoying herself too much, this was at 4 oclock, I text back to say I would call her later, but she said she was away on training till 9.30 tonight and this was after a full day from 6am

Hi Finnigan, it definitely will open doors for her, and I am the same re Steff, she is my baby too, and although I joke with her about cutting the apron strings(she is a mummy's girl) I am just as bad.

Hi Finnigan, at the moment, I am just excited for her........ but I know I will be in bits when she goes, but I cant let her see that, as she is so excited about it. I think she knows she is going to miss us a lot, she even said tonight, to her Dad and I, that she would not be phoning a lot, as she would just want to come home if she heard our voices so I told her we could chat online, and it was ok not to phone... although I will be worried sick about her, I can see it from her point of view too.

I am scared too. At her interview we got to speak to the guy who interviewed her and he was really nice, we could ask him anything. He said that she probably would not be in a warzone for about 3 yrs....... but I wont take that as read, as they can change their minds at the drop of a hat.

Faye-- When Steff had her medical she got the results while there, she did not have to wait, she also heard on the day of her fitness that she had passed that too.

when did she have her interview etc?, just my firned has had everything but waiting to hear back from Medical they would only give her a one year allowance on it but hasnt heard if they are accecpting that yet?
