I have just taken on two one week old kittens as their mother was only a kitten herself and wasn't looking after them (3 have already died!) My question is the two kittens will only take about a ml of the milk replacer per feed and even that

Re: One week old kittens

I got my 2 at 10days old and one of them took a good few days to get to grips with bottle feeding. I in the end used a syringe which they seemed to prefer, but my boy wouldnt take much at all at first. They dont drink v much in 1 go a ml or so every couple hours. Hopefully they'll pick up soon. I got mine into a routine lol. Feed, toilet, sleep every 3 hrs initially. Hard work but well worth it and they are now big healthy 2 yr olds!

Re: One week old kittens

Thanks for your help, I'll have a look at that website now They are actually feeding much better today, thank god.
the teat needs to be quite far back in their mouths to trigger a good suckling response too. think of what they look like on the mum - mouth is full!!

Re: One week old kittens

I found when i have hand reared kittens in the past the FAB website was very helpful
