E-mail the head office and they will do a telephone interview with you and then you subscribe to their mailing list and you'll get messages with all the gaps that they have. Go for it, I love working for vets now.

thanks for your replies, I think I will give them my name and details, it would be good to do some emergency work cos I dont really get to do that much in my line of work. I wouldnt be available for loads of weekends, maybe one a month or every couple of months. do you think this would be okay or would they not want to bother?

One of my colleagues does the odd weekend shift at vets now. I think she says she is there one every three weekends. The branch where she works is also the place that does our out of hours. She said that their induction procedures for new staff were good.

I left my name and details with them at BSAVA as I too am interested in doing the odd weekend for them at Ilford, have not heard from them since but maybe it was because I they wanted people who could be more specific about which weekends they would be available for. I just wanted to be on their books for if they were ever short and needed someone at short notice.

It entirely depends on the clinic and how their rota works and their staffing levels.

You can pick when you can/want to work though.

I started as a locum and am now contracted and only do weekends as it's my second job but I love it

I say go for it!
