How often are you required? I cant decide whether to do it. I would only be available for a few weekends but I miss doing a bit of emergency work. Any advice would be well recieved!

Re: vets now locumming

E-mail the head office and they will do a telephone interview with you and then you subscribe to their mailing list and you'll get messages with all the gaps that they have. I think she says she is there one every three weekends. The branch where she works is also the place that does our out of hours. She said that their induction procedures for new staff were good.

I left my name and details with them at BSAVA as I too am interested in doing the odd weekend for them at Ilford, have not heard from them since but maybe it was because I they wanted people who could be more specific about which weekends they would be available for. I just wanted to be on their books for if they were ever short and needed someone at short notice.

Re: vets now locumming

It entirely depends on the clinic and how their rota works and their staffing levels.

You can pick when you can/want to work though.

I started as a locum and am now contracted and only do weekends as it's my second job but I love it

I say go for it!
