Probably the nurses' ones are more basic and less expensive like the Select and the latest one are plastic (which are rubbish!!) than the vets' ones, as they usually have the Cardiology II ones etc...

If you can afford it, the amazing Littmann 3100! It's one of their electronic stethoscopes. I'd absolutely love one as it'll be really good for me due to being hearing impaired but it's so expensive and as a nurse, I can't really justify the price!

Otherwise, I have the Littmann Select and that is really good. So good in fact that all of my colleagues keep using it including the vets! And it's a reasonable price as well.

I think the Littman classic II SE is the standard for small animal work.

(The normal size is fine, but the paediatric version is nice if you are only dealing with cats and dogs as you can isolate sounds better, such as a murmer. We also have the infant version for the very little beasties!)

Medisave are pretty cheap, I find, and you currently get free engraving and pen torch!
