I was wondering if it would increase my chances of obtaining a student vet nurse training spot. I know its not RCVS accredited

Re: Veterinary Support Assistant

How on earth can you distance learn dog grooming????!!!!!!!

NLP as a distance learning? NLP is a very practical subject. To see it in action it makes sense to read it from a book you may as well be describing a rainbow to a blind man and I know because I teach it. distance learning counselling - ok it is possible but I find it a bit worrying that somebody with relatively little experience can be unleashed on the counselling world with a little bit of paper. Get it wrong and you can seriously mess up a vulnerable person. Ear candling by distance learning - again a practical rather than theory subject. Counselling for young children - dont even go there! Distance learning dog grooming? dont know what the veterinary assistant one is like but basing my opinion on the subjects I do know about you would be better spending your money elsewhere

Re: Veterinary Support Assistant

I agree with Katie. I did a distance learning course for Veterinary Assistant and have been told that it's not worth the paper it's written on as there was no practical aspect.

Re: Veterinary Support Assistant

I'm extremely sceptical and very wary of anything that isn't RCVS approved / recognised.

I know the VCA (Veterinary Care Assistant) is an L2 Diploma is recognized - and the practice doesn't have to be a training practice; they just mentor you on the required practical tasks while you do the distance learning course. A completed VCA is accepted as entry requirements for the L3 nursing diploma.

The VSA I don't know about.

(Full disclosure: My employer offers the VCA.)
