Meh...time is more important than money and I had worked the rest of the bank holiday weekend so didn't really want just one day off then come back to work, might as well stick it where I can have a long weekend or something.

Treated as a normal bank hol, so one nurse, one vet for emergencies only.

Depends on your contract - if you contract says 'all bank holidays' then you was entitled to it. If it says '8 bank holidays' or 'a total of .. days per year' then I'm afraid you wouldn't be entitled to it, or time off in lieu.

Employers never have to pay extra for working any bank holiday, as long as you are given time off in lieu. (But not doing so would be a bit miserable!)

I see most of your bosses have allowed you to take another day off in return for working on the Tuesday (or they have taken the nicer option of being closed and allowing staff to spend time with family).

Am I correct in thinking that employers did not have to treat this day as a bank holiday, so no one is entitled to extra pay, a day off, or day off lieu?

I also agree that no amount of money is worth not spending quality time with family. Shame some bosses do not agree ;-(

open,as normal, we opened yesterday in our main branch too for emergencies and for people to pick up scripts with a skeleton staff of me another nurse and a vet. The practice was cleaned to within an inch of its (and my) life. so so sparkly!

We are closed, but doing our normal Sunday hours: emergency open surgery 10am to 11am; attending to in-patients and on-call through the day from 930am to the following morning at 8am.

Yes, I will be working. No problem with that at all. Quite looking forward to it actually. Am I mad?! No, just fed up of housework.... ha ha ha!

we re open as normal (we were told we could take it off as holiday or work it as normal and take time off at a later date)

We are closed. We stayed open last year when the wedding was on and it was really quiet as I think people expected us to be closed so did not come in or had other things planned.

Well, for MY wedding the nation had a day off too! (Of course, around here we called it "Saturday", but there you go! )

we are treating it as a normal bank holiday...we are NEVER shut, but we aren't accepting routine referrals emergencies only as well as dealing with our inpatients. so 2 nurses in along with the various levels of vets

We are open too! Normal working hours. If individual members of staff want to take the day off, a normal holiday request has to be approved beforehand.
