sometimes i work the night shift properley and do a full week but sometimes i just do a night or two to cover someone. i must say doing a full week is easier as i never can figure out when to sleep, eat etc so end up doing neither

Re: night shifts health risks

[quote user="Caro Laithwaite"]

The joys of night emergency nursing. It is a totally different world doing night emergency nursing even to day emergency nursing, l have done both and so speak from a been there still got the t-shirt.

It is also very different from those who cover their inpatients or get called in for the odd problem by the vet.

Not sure if l like it or hate it but it is a living so l do it. If l could find something else l probably would but for now....

I agree, until you've worked on emergency nights you cant really imagine what it would be like, its so different from day work or being on call.

I loved it BUT it had its set backs and currently I dont work nights but wouldnt complain at doing it occassionally me thinks
