Yeah new job been 3 months. I am gonna put together why I want just a little to help me with a more expensive course that will benefit them and see what they say x

Your not alone spud! My practice dont offer anything for nurses, even though the vets get a pretty healthy budget. I went to my employer as I wanted to do an exotics course with information on how it would benefit them and was told "No, because there is sufficient free cpd to give you your required hours!"

I am starting a new job in 2 weeks, that offers a very generous CPD budget and have already agreed to let me do the exotics course once ive passed my 3 month trial.

the vets do get cpd, i am annoyed that they gonna pay alot of money for students to go to college and i get nothing esp after i am working my *** of to get the practice up to tp standards.

i know there is free cpd but i was looking at yop up degree, cert courses and needed some help withthe cost.

Not sure if I am being helpful but I can only try! My answer doesn't address your problem directly, just side-steps it...!

I am a relatively newly qualified RVN, Feb 2011 so this is all new to me... here's what I did/do. I decided to find myself some relevant, free, CPD so that I am not being a drain on my (new) employers purse. Below are a few examples used recently.

If there was something big I want to study (and need funding) then I feel I could go to my bosses with my arguments neatly presented with an emphasis on how it will enhance the practice (and me, of course!). (I know we don't have a specific CPD budget).

As I am not sure what your interests or areas of development are, I fully apologise if this is 'been there, done that, got the t-shirt' for you!!

what about if you found a course you wanted to do, work out how it would benefit the practice and approach the boss with that?

I have worked places where we had no "official" money for CPD but the boss would look at courses and pay if they thought it was worthwhile for the practice

what about speaking to the bvna or drug companies... sometimes they give bursaries for further learning?

and as an RVN which is what they wanted i need to do cpd!!!!
