There are certain standards your practice needs to meet. Where exactly are you located? In our case, for instance, you contact us, we have an inspection process you go through, a contract you sign (basically outlines what you expect of us and what we expect of you) and if there's something you don't have or haven't done, we'll tell you what you need to do to meet approval.

(Ok, it's honestly more complicated than that, but the training colleges are here to help you.) Clinical coach training should be provided to you and you have to attend a standardization event (this makes sure you are working consistently with other clinical coaches) once a year. We provide training for our own clinical coaches free, and for a fee to external clinical coaches (who work for training practices for other colleges.)

Your mileage of course will vary, you won't be charged for asking! Other colleges may have slightly different programs and support, but we all have to answer to the RCVS's requirements.

http://www.caw.ac.uk/practice-training.aspx is a page that gives you a little more detail; feel free to ring up for a word if you're interested. (We're in Huntingdon, Leeds, Edinburgh, and Potters Bar - if you feel you're too far away, feel free to ring up a few other colleges, quite a few good ones around!)

Cheers,
