Was it quite easy to get a job? did you find that some places had their own accomodation included? I am hoping to go out in october so just planning my trip:) Very exciting! How long were your placements for on average?

Did you find somewhere to volunteer in thiland? im looking to go there first before heading to oz.

yes came on my own. dont worry about doing it, you'll have a great time and learn alot.
The best thing to do is book to stay in a hostel for the 1st part of your stay and you'll meet lots of great people. then once your settled, sort out a house share as then you will have your own room and get more much needed sleep than the hostel!!! Accomodation is very reasonably prices and you should have no money worries if you have a job sorted.

You could also try Elephant Nature Park or Wildlife Friends Foundation, both in Thailand. These are both very reputable and all tof he elephants and other animals have genuinely genuinely been rescued from abuse, whereas there are many in Thailand which are basically just elephant parks set up for tourists/volunteers and therefore the elephants have been captured from the wild specifically for this purpose (this is not aimed at the one mentioned above by the way, as I know nothing about that one). Both have accommodation and only ask for a nominal fee, much less than many of the volunteer programmes set up elsewhere.

Phangan animal care [PAC] in Thailand are a brilliant charity have worked for them twice. Can`t give you the link as their website appears to be down.

There is a organisation in Cambodia called free the bears, you have to pay but its alot cheaper for RVN's. Also in Thailand there is PAC where you can nurse for least 3 months with free accomodation but have to work 5 days a week in exchange. There is also a clinic on Koh Lanta Thailand who are alway looking for vet nurses to help out.

Where did you go in OZ? any trouble finding work?

Hia,

Last year i did a little volunteering at this place www.scadbangkok.org

They were really lovely and really keen for volunteer, that was in Bangkok. Thailand is really awesome you will absolutely love it, definitely go out to the islands. Id also say if you have time to also go to Cambodia as its also really awesome and beautiful (and go to Angkor Wat!). Friend sof mine volunteered with elephants in Cambodia and they loved it.

Not been yet but will/should b going next year with a friend.

We have looked through the WVS website. (I think it is that one) and there are some good ones on there! Good luck in finding something!
