You wouldn't want to do my exams at Myerscough ;-) Haha!

Re: Myerscough

Erm.........let's get this straight! You don't get to take Pullen and Gray's Ethics book into the VN19 exam with you at Myerscough!

It is a 'seen examination' so the students are provided with a VN19 resource booklet at the start of lesson delivery for the unit to support their studies and lesson content on the subject, and they can do what they want to this copy, i.e. make notes in it etc etc. When exam day comes they get an exam copy of the resource booklet to refer to during the exam...one, funnily enough, with none of their own notes in it!!

And back to the original topic...when you start at Myerscough we will recommend / show you some of the key text books on the market so you can decide which you like before you go splashing-the-cash! And the library does have a good selection of books too so you'll have plenty of choice to keep you entertained :-) See you in September!!!

Re: Myerscough

[quote user="Kim"]

VN19 is an open book exam, I train at Moreton Morrell in Warwick. Anyone doing this exam though will get to take the book in, but it doesn't make it easy unfortuanatly, still a stressful exam. I've got it coming up in two weeks.

The library is brill there, loads of useful books! The only ones i would suggest you get to start with is a good all round textbook (eg BSAVA or Victoria Aspinall) and a VN dictionary. Once you have started, you will have a better idea of which books you really need and which you can just borrow from the library. Hope that helps.

Re: Myerscough

You will need this for your exam, it's called Ethics, Law and the Veterinary Nurse by Sophie Pullen. You can buy the new edition on Amazon. You take it into the exam with you. Other than that I would suggest an up to date vet nursing book, there is a new BSAVA one.

I've not bought all of them, as must of them are in the library at college and that's all i've done. If you want to buy them all, Mysercough have a sugeested reading list in the welcome book you get at the start of term.

There are absolutely loads of copies in the library though so anyone who couldn't buy a copy isn't at a disadvantage - Myerscough will be the same.

For most of our assignments we're using journal articles which we download off the internet - you'll probably be doing the same - so I wouldn't worry too much about cost of textbooks.
