Like someone said its very unpredictable so busy and quiet nights, I work in one of the quieter clinics but enough caseload to keep me interested and you still get manic nights. If its quiet do get turns at sleeping In between inpatient checks, meds etc. The hours are 185 hours per month, shift pattern will differ between clinics but we usually do 3 or 4 nights in a row and as the shifts are 15 hours means you only need to work 13 shifts a month to make up your hours. It's annualised hours so you also get paid your hols and as you only need to work 13 shifts a month it's quite easy to swap them round taking holidays, or it certainly is in my clinic. Best decision I ever made, finally have a work life balance! :)

Re: Alfreton vets now

I work for them and love it . Each clinic is slightly different regarding workload and how they are staffed , lots of part timers or full timers etc. Good cpd etc. Always give them aring and see if you can pop in. Alfreton is a new clinic.

Good communication with support office too.

Re: Alfreton vets now

thanks , all advice and info welcome x

Re: Alfreton vets now

I don't work for VetsNow, but I work with them out of a PDSA hospital. We are reasonably busy, some nights we don't get to sit down until around 7. other clinics that do just VetsNow are a bit quieter, but every nights different. Depending on whats in they do sleep but have to get up for meds etc. They use annualized hours, which, by my understanding, they are already paid holiday, so if they take 2 weeks off work for holiday, they have to make it up elsewhere. Depends on if you are full time or part time. Some only do a few shifts a month, others are in every week. One nurse I know has done 6 nights in a row and some have done 36 hours straight (night, day, night again).

Hope this has given you some info that you wanted.

Re: Alfreton vets now

Any vets now info would be good.
