thank you. am still not sure if i wll sit my exam this yr as am just scarpoing through and havnt had time to do much reading up around the subjects. am still loving the ocurse though x

Hiya I'm finally home, pretty much the same as the post above for the calculations side of things, make sure you state that the bitch is undergoing peak lactation at 3-4 weeks, thats the main thing and then use a good quality balanced calorie dense food (puppy food normally). Feed up to 4-6 meals per day to provide her with the grub that she needs during peak lactation. Let me know if you need anything else or this in more depth and I can send you the jargon

hey spud,

im doing it at the moment, just got my essay back from my tutor (Jimmy Simpson). and i seem to have done the right thing (full marks).

i started it by working out what her energy requirements would be daily (use the equations in the energy requirements unit), and then i worked through all the extra things i would ask her owner, to work out the cause of the weight loss.

then i went though what my plan would be to help the situation.

Sorry just read the question again, are they deffo asking you to work out how much milk she will produce??

As I remember they asked what the calorie intake for a lactating bitch should be.

i am sat trying to work out the needs of a 20kg bitch with 9, 3week old pups for the course but cant see how i work out how much milk she needs to produce. so can not work out how many kcals she needs. ahhhhhhhhhh
