Not a fan of giving Dom/Torb first then ket as it just takes longer for the cat to be anaesthetised, would much rather give it all in one go. I also don't feel pulling them up in a specific order makes one bit of difference because the Ket mixes with the other almost instantly.

I pull it all up in one syringe then inject it slowly and cats don't react as much. I think the main reaction is because people inject it really quickly and yeah, that is going to hurt. I always inject cats on my own and have no problems with my method. Of course, I will have help with cats that are aggressive before you even do anything to them.

What you can do is draw it up with an insulin syringe (not caninsulin!) and transfer it to a 1ml syringe; put it in slowly and it layers like a layered coffee. :) Little more complicated, but I always liked it.

Re: Triple combination

Not a fan of giving Dom/Torb first then ket as it just takes longer for the cat to be anaesthetised, would much rather give it all in one go. I also don't feel pulling them up in a specific order makes one bit of difference because the Ket mixes with the other almost instantly.

Why, I hear you ask?

Torb doesn't sting, dom does a little, and ketamine REALLY STINGS. Do it this way (don't let the syringe sit for a while, the layers dissipate) and you won't get the sting reaction until the injection is safely given.

Alternatively you can give dom/torb first, then the ket (they say to do this in dogs, for instance) but still, dom drawn up first, then torb - that way torb goes in first, insulates the dom a little bit.
