If so, I probably suggested perharps if she can organised some equipments/material ready in theatre room so the vet can point at? For example- i prepare countless suture materials in theatre room so the vet can point at?

Or you can practice? like wearing the mask and say name of suture materials and she will learn the words.

Please tell deaf SVN that she will get there. i was exactly same as before. i couldn't understand what was VS saying when she need something! He could see our lips moving and during dentals, it protected the staff's eyes. The clear fronts just clip onto the plastic frame. The frame is a hoop for around the head.
My first language is British signing language when I was baby. Mother taught me how to sign by looking at her hands. I can imagine babies learnt by listen on mother speaking. I can imagine that she get picture of object then sign at me.

I got a cochlear implant when I was three years old and its require operation to put internal cochlear implant inside of head. Luckily I couldn't remember when I have operation and start wearing the cochlear implant! So sadly I cannot answer that question as I couldn't remember!

I can hear people saying mostly and I can lip read as well. Sometimes I struggled to hear VS when VS wearing the face mask! But I'm getting better as I recognise their voices and know what they need during surgery (suture materials, swabs, etc) before VS tell me what they need! lol People says I'm mind reader lol.

RE: Deafness

Wow, profoundly deaf and english not first language, and you've overcome that to become an RVN.

I'm trying to get my head around the idea of learning to sign in British signing language, before actually learning English, and whilst learning your mother tongue (what's your first language?). My head hurts just thinking about it!

At what age did you get the cochlear implants, and how much of a difference have they made? Can you hear people speak well enough to understand what they are saying, or do you have to lip read?

I am profoundly deaf in both ears but i am lucky to have a cochlear implant which helps me to hear and speaks English reasonable well. When i was SVN, i found the course is most difficultly i ever done (i wont do any more course!) This is because English is not my first language. When i was born, i was signing in british signing language. when i become 5/6 years starts to learn how to speaks and write the English for many years!

I'm very lucky to work at my practice because people are so supportive, patience and friendly. I will be struggling with background noises because i can hear the background noise while people talking! Also people forgot to face to face to me. I have to tell them off lol!

Im happy to answer the questions for you. I think it is important that people understanding in disability people.

I am curious how many deaf RVN in British. i am sure that i'm not alone!

RE: Deafness

Is it good?
Anyway, you don't need to answer if you don't want to (er, obviously )

RE: Deafness

I use amplified stethoscope.

RE: Deafness
I have my own special stethoscope to able to listen to heart beat.
