Spiders have never been a problem apart from a now defunct allergy which means l can hapilly handle them and do if need be.

l put up the part in phobias along with a photo of my friends in the Tenerife Kennels who worked with me in killing flies.(l got muddled and put there what l meant to put here over in phobias l was to tired to notice the miss posting till now)

Back in Africa wolf spiders would come into the house in season, huge things my dad would chase them out the house, never an easy job.

Scorpions would fascinate me as a kid l would spend hours looking for them under rocks. If l found a snake it was "oh ok snake l like you but where the scorpions you snakes are 10 a penny." Then back to scorpion hunting. Never kept them just liked to find them, they fascinated me. I guess l was a strange child and it has stuck with me.

We have a superb exotics practice just 3 miles down the road, so we advise them to keep driving. Only because they are sooooo specialised and we don't have the quipment to deal with them!! NO other reason of course!!

Thankfully, we have 2 exotic practices not too far away so we'd just hurriedly point them in that direction if they phoned with a spider!

I did have one experience which freaked me out when a guy brought one to us at the RSPCA shelter I worked at - it had come home on his bananas from Asda! Obviously we just left it in the box and got it shipped to someone who could identify it asap in view of it's likely origins. I always check the bananas very gingerly in Tesco since then! We also had a very pretty but very bright yellow toad brought to us which had arrived the same way.

As we are an exotics practice, I always ask at interview if there are any animals they would struggle to deal with - EVERYONE says spiders! (And one prospective receptionist said 'birds'!!! Strangely, she didn't get the job!)

Spiders dont really bother me but see those massive spiders you get during summer that just casually scamper across the floor from underneath the couch - they aint nice - i swear they mutate every year!

I've never seen a tarantula or other spider (except the beasts that always appear in the bedding cupboard ) since working in practice. I really don't like spiders though have picked up a tarantula briefly when on holiday! It didn't seem as spidery I suppose as they have hair (fur=fine!), however it was a 2 second hold and then it was swiftly put back in its house.

We have treated (successfully) a tarantula - but most of the nurses wouldn't go anywhere near it!

as a joke one of my ex bosses brought in the shed skin of a wolf spider, put it in a tupperware tub and handed it to me for intensive care and feeding up. My screams were heard the length and breadth of Lincolnshire and then I fainted - but as I went down I took the mobile theatre lamp with me ! - expensive joke that!

OMG I think i'd have a heart attack, I once found a HUUUUGE spider in our x-ray room - I swear it had knees. I think it was the radiation - super spider

still makes my skin crawl at the thoguht. I ran away and screamed til the vet rescued me and disposed of said spider

never had to deal with a tarantual thankfully!!

One evening surgery both myself and my friend (vet) where the only ones in the building. Both of us are terrified of spiders!

A man found a large, lots of legs, hairy massive spider in his house. It was soooo big, he thought he should bring it to the vet and have it identified.....

Well, didnt he pick a bad night to come!! I could barely speak when he told me what he had inside a jam jar.................and the vet wouldnt even let him bring it to the consulting room...... As my friend was on call that night, she had to sleep in the flat above the practice. She couldnt bear the thought of the spider anywhere in the building so it spent the night outside beside the bins!!

It was dead the next morning and in the end, we didnt identify it!!

I've never seen a spider in practice since i started training which was 6 years ago. I don;t have a phobia of them i would just rather not deal with them or keep them lol. We see all the usual exotics too but as far as i know we don;t have anyone registered with spiders!!!
