My 6 month old pup was sick bout an hour ago and up came his food from lunch time along with a few bits of green leaves he ate this morning from the plant in the lounge, naughty!! Think it must have had summin to do with eating the plant leaves, naughty puppy!

I didnt think it was 24 hours anyways for a dog that had only vomited once or twice, but we all have our own little things and remember things differently so i'd like to know what it really is.

Re: puppy sickness

I am reading this thread, and see that a lot still starve for 24hours after vomiting....... I thought this particular course of action was out of date. I can remember a few years back possibly at some cpd thing, we were told that if a dog vomits, then wait about 4 hours offer smal amount of water, and if no more vomit, you offer a small meal(chicken) possibly just a few pieces. This was especially for pups, who should not according to whoever it was be starved for 24 hours.

A dog that has vomited even a few times, the same thing applies, unless the dog is vomiting contstantly, then in that instance they probably should see the vet.

Anyone else on here do this?

Re: puppy sickness

i left for work this morning before the dog would normally have his breakfast and his lunch is around 1pm and i was still at work, i tried my best to tell them what to do, but they went against it. And 30 mins after posting this thread last night he was sick again a little more, still the bouncy/happy puppy he always was just having been sick.

My parents dont seem to listen to what i have to say most of the time.

Never mind, he alot better today, my mum said she skipped his breaky this morning and gave him a small lunch at 1pm, he has kept it down fine,

Re: puppy sickness

hmm. this is a late reply but personally I would've waited a bit.
