I want to find my own 'niche' . At my practice, we already have dentistry nurses, a physio nurse, a behaviourist, a rabbit

Re: Further certificates and training for RVN

I agree with Steph and Phrin. What are you doing your dissertation on? That might show you where your interest lies - but I'd wait to specialise at work after you've graduated - far too much to worry about at the mo

(says the girl already planning her dissertation, Masters and PhD, but is only in the 1st yr of the BSc!!!!!!!)

Concentrate on your training/exams first and foremost!

I think you tend to naturally find what you are more interested in, just through working and experience etc. For me it has always been anaesthesia and surgery, although I started to get interested in rabbit anaesthesia after being involved with them more often. And now due to being around horses I am very very slowly allowing myself to have a think about equine nursing..... I know where my heart lies though - anaesthesia and surgical! I'm just having a wobble about species lol!

Good luck - you will find your niche with time and experience!

Re: Further certificates and training for RVN

Personally I'd wait till you have completed your training, you have enough to think about!

Once you have done that and you have had time to experience more of practice life you will find an area that you have more interest in, for example I found I really wasn't interested in any surgery and eventually managed to find my dream job where I am not involved in any unless its a weekend.

Good luck with the rest of your training and then finding your niche!
