I wanted to start my 9 yr old lab on some supplements to help her joints. We have tried and failed with synoquin in the past and have recently come across yumove. Does anyone know how good this one is?

Re: Yumove help

Ive been developing nutraceutical products for many years for pretty much every major brand. I now have my own company but won't use this response as a plug and I will try and be as impartial as possible.

I would always suggest ensuring whatever product you use make sure its manufactured in a site with a VMD approval to ensure quality. I would not say for a second that products manufactured at food approved sites would be dangerous but VMD approved sites need to manufacture to pharmaceutical standards. It always surprises me that the veterinary industry would not think for a second of giving an animal a pharmaceutical product that is manufactured at a site without VMD approval but don't ask the question if its a nutraceutical. It would also be a good idea to look closely at the label. Many products say they have chondroitin in for example or have materials that contain chondroitin but the actual content is extremely small. This is by far the most expensive ingredient in joint supplements and many brands reduce the content to reduce the manufacturing cost. Try and compare the labels of different products before comparing prices. Lastly don't assume that the most expensive product is the best. There are some very well known veterinary brands that cost a lot of money that are actually cheaper to make than some others.

I hope this helps.

Re: Yumove help

Hi,

My Name is Rachel Tomlinson, and I work for Lintbells who produces YUMOVE! I obviously think its excellent, but that is from using it (my working dogs love it) - not just recommending it!

It has a three step approach to joint care / support unlike many of the others out there! It provides:

Improves Joint Comfort – YUMOVE contains a triple strength green lipped mussel providing optimal levels of unique omega 3 EFAs to ease joint stiffness and reduce joint discomfort.

Supports Joint Structure – veterinary strength & purity Glucosamine HCl and natural chondroitin to support cartilage, with manganese for ligament strength.

Cosequin is over twice the price, I have looked on the Yumove site + 300 tabs are 45 pounds and on the web, Cosequin is 44.99 for 120 tabs. Obviously prices may be cheaper through a vet wholesaler. Dosage is the same - >45kg 4 tabs, 35-45kg 3 tabs.

Hope this helps,

[/quote]

Thanks - yes it does. I had already checked the doseage was similar thats why i thought it may be of interest to the client. Has anybody swapped from cosequin to Yumove - just wondered if they found it provided the same or better benefit
