How about a board game? We made a board with different coloured squares on it and each colour related to a different medical disease. They took turns to move around the board and answer questions and if they got it right they moved on and if they got it wrong they had to move back. You could be move inventive with the game but i was short of time! It does take a while to do, but once its done it can be used again and again!

Re: Medical Nursing

Not sure about fun, but I think a quite 'heavy' area such as this is best tackled using a more practical approach. You could try (if you could have a group of at least 2 or 3 SVNs), using a board, putting up a disease condition (eg diabetes) and then getting them all to write on post-it notes or similar, the clinical signs asscociated with the disease. Once they have all put up at least 3 each, you could then all discuss each symptom/sign/result of the disease that they have put up, and discuss whether it is correct and why. Like I say, maybe not *fun*, but involves input from them, and they are far more likely to remember it if done in a more practical/group way... You could bring some textbooks along to the session too, and all look up things you are not sure about and get formal 'backup' for the reasons behind the clinical effects. You could do the same with treatments - ie all of them to think of 2 or 3 ways in which the disease can be treated medically.

Diagrams/flow charts etc will also really help out the 'visual' learners amongst the group, and even use of images to go with particular points will assist with recall.

Re: Medical Nursing

So would I !!!!!
