When I worked at the AHT I used to take the charity trade stand there every year, it was really tiring because the stall was always heaving, both with people wanting to buy the array of gifts / toys and those who want to talk to endlessy about their pets because you are a nurse! And a whole day being ever so polite was very draining. There were also many owners who recognised you from the consulting room and expected you to remember every detail of their pets condition.

I agree there are some really silly people there, I had 2 American ladies arguing over the last TY beanie toy I had....I wanted to shout at them "it's just a ruddy stuffed bear"

Still I must say I did enjoy it getting to cuddle lots of Greyhounds and Bearded Collies, haven't been for years

Hurrah, sensible steps forward to improve welfare.. Would be interesting to know why they failed ..

I'm not saying I disagree with Crufts, but it has despaired me in previous years to see a blatant celebration of dogs which are compromised due to the 'breed standards' of certain breeds... and really good to see some positive change.

I have done discover dogs at Crufts for the past 5 years with my rotties......this year i am having a break (from the idiots who like to tell me that their dog is 10 stone!!!!) mine are both rescue but breed standard, very fit and not overweight!! I really enjoy talking to people about the dogs and advising them about the breed but you really do get some silly people!!!!

I am going on Saturday to shop without the dogs so i can spend all my money on things i don't need!!! Usually when i have finished at Discover Dogs i end up leaving early as it gets too crowded to walk around with the dogs and you wouldn't believe the number of people that stand on the dogs paws, which really annoys me as 1) they are pretty hard to miss and 2) you would think people who have come to see dogs at a dog show would be more aware!!!!

Also pleased to hear the Bulldog and Peke that failed vet check have actually not been allowed to go to best in group
