I don't know what the vets get but they are always swanning off on CPD somewhere! Managed to get £10 out of them last week for local BVNA CPD but it's like trying to get blood out of a stone!

Being that i'm now a PD nurse, I think I get what Angiy said she got at PD. It's a really good deal I think, more than i've been offered in private practice, which was £250 (travel was on top I think, but I never had any CPD that was far enough away for it to be a lot of money, so not sure what the limit was on that).

Vets get £1000. I often ask and I always get a "No, because there is no budget for nurses". We are supposed to do as much free stuff as we can!! I work for a CVS practice too, I've been told it depends on what your contract says before they took over as to whether you actually get anything or not.

Those of you that get 'nothing' for your CPD budget (that's really sad btw) - what do the vets in the practice get?

I think if the practice contribute to Vet CPD then you'd have a really good argument for also receiving something, as all of now have to adhere to RCVS requirements for minimum CPD...

Also, if you don't ask, you don't get - not many practices will offer money without prompting...

Same here, nothing! It is a bit of a sore point. I've had to pay to put myself through the diploma!

We get £1000 per year, inclu travel expenses etc.

I should add PDSA offer ( or used to anyway) some additional funding towards the diploma which you could apply for if your senior vet supported your application..it had to go to a regional head vet to decide but most people that applied got it..I think it was an extra £1500.

When full time in my job it was £200 although I think post CVS takeover it is now at their discretion what they will pay for and there is not a set rate..but I might be wrong so don't quote me on it ( I'm part time now)..when I was at PDSA it ws £400 plus two days extra to use off but there was also mandatory courses within the organisation that we got extra time for and also some courses run in conjunction with RVC that we got free and extra time for on a first come first served basis (limited places). At my practice before that it was £450 and two days off ( also a charity practice). In my private practices before that is was zilch..you could get some very cheap courses paid for but you had to really negotiate

In my last practice I used to get £150 a year and some time I think, but a friend of mine in a practice nearby got £500 which shows how much it varies between practices.

we get £500, and that is purely for courses. travel, food etc comes from another budget but is paid for us. we also get 30 hours to use so we don't have to take days off for courses.

for doing something like the grad dip or the dipavn work will fund half of it, but you still get the £500 as well

Improve international's "club" is actually £718 including VAT!!!!

We get £500 a year which we can use against accom/travel if we want

However work will fund us doing the DipAVN but we wont get the £500 on top of that which is fair enough
