Just feel so low at the minute, I just wish the practice was busier or in a different area

Ho hum, here comes the job hunt then. Had a scout about the VNTimes/VetTimes recently the jobs aren't exactly freeflowing at the minute. fingers crossed

Can you imagine working everyday in that practice for, say the next 3 months? If that thought fills you with dread then it may be time to start job hunting. It doesnt sound like it is a forward thinking practice which really wanst to spend the time and effort to get things up and running.

Re: Job

I agree with loobylou about resigning even after such a short period. I really don't think that any prospective employer would frown upon the fact that you left your current practice because you were bored. If they did, they're probably not a great practice to work for anway!!!! If there is one thing I've learnt in my short time on this planet is don't stick around in a situation where you're miserable. ESPECIALLY not if it's making you want to cry everyday. It's really not worth it.

Re: Job

Hiya

There are no plans to further the practice as its a 10branch practice and across the board the profits arent high enough to change anything, so no x-ray machine or anything for us

we recently sent vouches for half price neutering, 25% off dentals etc and hardly anyone picked up on it

ive started nurse clinics but clients are reluctant to come as they seem to do the bear minimum around here and money is a serious issue

no chance of shifts at the main surgery either as money is tight "credit crunch" and all that so they are short too so not allowed to do overtime unless we absoloutley have to

Are there any plans to employ another nurse? Is there any chance you could do some shifts at the main surgery?
I went from working in a busy practice to a mixed practice which was sooooo quiet! Thought I was going to go insane, I would wander around the practice randomly looking in cupboards trying to find something to do! I eventually handed my notice in after 5 months and was lucky enough to be offered my old job back.

I think if you've made your mind up to leave, as long as you are honest to potential new employers about why it was such a short stint, then they should be fine about it. After all they wont want a nurse who is happy to sit around doing nothing all day!

Good luck, hope it all turns out ok for you!

Re: Job

Missvetnurse,

I do sympathise with you. Does your vet have any plans to develop the practice? Get an x-ray machine?

Is it a newly opened practice?

How about doing something along the lines of a practice profile in your local newspaper or anything else that may generate more clients?

Re: Job

I'd also give my right arm to move back nearer home as Im feeling quite homesick at the minute
