Hi there,

I was just looking through this thread I'm having trouble finding an insurer, I'm on worldwideinsurer's website but can't see where it says about working with animals...did you email/call them or do you still have the website link incase I'm on the wrong one?

went with walkabout in the end. the only thing they dont cover is lump sum payouts for loss of limb or permanent disability.

Hey I used real gap travel insurance for SA as I was working with lion cubs and they covered this. One of the girls I was with unfortunately got trampled with a giraffe whilst there and they paid up for medical bills problem free.

Yes- my policy stated that work with wildlife was covered.

thanks. did they specifically say they cover working with wildlife though as i'd want to make sure, especially for such a good price! if so sounds awesome, cheers

Hi,

I went to South Africa and was insured with Worldwide Travel Insurance. They were recommended to a friend by a specialist wildlife conservation travel company. At the time Worldwide Travel offered various levels of conservation project insurance.

I think I paid about £80 for 8 weeks cover.

nah its tenikwah wildlife centre or summit. I have contacted go walkabout as it seemed the most logical but even they are being very difficult, saying they have to check with their underwriters even though they advertise cover for the veterinary profession.

I'm still waiting to hear back from them. any other company suggestions? Is good to know they've covered another nurse for almost the exact same thing so if they turn me down i'll be having words.

Hey,

Is it Cheetah Outreach you are going to help by any chance?

I went last year and took out insurance with Go Walkabout. They do a lot of the insurance with the WVS too, so are good with animal stuff.

Give them a call, I found them to be really helpful when i called for help last year! I think it was about £85 for 7 weeks, something like that anyway.
