Incidentally, if anyone has any feedback from canine prostate awareness month from this year, it was our first year running it so I would be delighted to hear your comments - good or bad - bit especially 'owners always thought Rex had a bit of hip arthritis but thanks to cpam we discovered bph, treated him, and now he's running around like a puppy again'.....that would be most welcome! Hey. Someone mentioned prostate awareness month. This runs in November and is organised by virbac uk for uk practices only. Re dental promotion, we did do kits to help you do a display but last I heard stocks were low - if you're interested speak to your rep or email enquiries@virbac.co.uk. This is one we should all get involved in - we always say that too many clients don't know or understand what we do - now's our chance!

I used to really enjoy dental awareness month as there's so many 'props' you can use for promotion - pictures etc, plus dental prophylactic stuff - toothbrushes and toothpastes of differing varieties; diets; dental toys... We used to give a discount in dental treatment during dental month, and encourage (charged but discounted) nurse consults for helping clients get started on tooth brushing..

The great thing about these awareness months is all the support you can get from companies - and if you play your cards right - loads of freebies to give out in competitions etc!

Oooh, it makes me want to be back in practice, and having an hour to set up my waiting room display!

Next month is a good one for advertising rabbit vacc because we are coming into spring and it's been a pretty mild winter, thats what my practice are doing

There's pet obesity awareness month with Hills giving a discount to new patients being put onto r/d. We've just done a display on 'poisons' highlighting the common ones for cats, dogs and rabbits, which we've had a lot of interest in.

There is also pedigree dental month, national pet month and if you use intervet vaccines, i think they still do a vaccination amnesty month. Thats all I can think of at the moment!

We have done neutering months with 10-20% discounts for regular clients. They go down very well especially just after christmas.
