Do you have to be in place doing lots of emergency work ??

What sort of things are on the reading list? Journals? I guess maybe articles from journals like 'in Practice' and 'the Journal of veterinary emergency & critical care?

These journals (& many more) can be accessed online but you have to pay a membership fee.

I think the best bet would be to do it through the RCVS library, I think it costs about £30 per year then that gives you access to all the journals you need rather than paying way more for individual articles.

Alternatively you can pay to download individual articles.

Here is more info on the RCVS library

I have really struggled with finding items from the reading list as well, so if anyone has any advise on this that would be great. I asked my tutor how important the reading list was, and was told that everything needed for the exams are in the course notes, and the reading list is there to add to overall knowledge on the subject areas.

I have bought Norkus - Veterinary Technicians Manual of Emergency and Critical Care, and Battaglia - Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care for Veterinary Technicians. Both of these texts have been useful for the assignments, along with the BSAVA Manual in Emergency and Critical Care, and using search engines like google scholar, ivis, and veterinary compendium.

Good luck with starting the course!
