I would just like to mention a quick point, although Recruit4vets recommend Danbro we are happy to use any umbrella service recommended by our locums, in fact only around 50% of our locums use Danbro, many use other umbrella companies and quite a few are self employed.

If you need any advice on either using an umbrella company or working self employed through an agency please drop me an email phil@recruit4health.com [quote user="Leelee484"]

I use the I4 group, so far havnt had any problems. Ask your locum agency who they would recommend-they are normally linked to each other, for example, when I use Rigs or GL my umbrella service is cheaper. Down side is, if I use a different agency, I pay normal rates (still not too bad). Recruit 4 vets recommended Danbro to me, but it seemed like to much hassle to change. It is nice and straight forward to use, plus you get your expenses and holiday pay aswell. Recently I've been tempted to go self employed and hire an accountant at the end of the year, but worked out its only marginally cheaper, and my self employed friend has had problems finding employers to take her on - quite rare though. I think it might be better to go self emplyed once you've established yourself as you can find your own work which practices like as they dont have to pay locum fees.

Personally I didnt rate them. When claiming expenses for some reason it got very complicated, I didnt think I was receiving all of what I was owed and everytime I rang to get an explanation, whoever I spoke to, never made any sense! I was doing a lot of mileage as well, so spending heaps on petrol! I totally felt like I was being diddled! They have also changed their T&C'S recently, so if you do decide to go with them have a good read through them.

I have a friend who has recently gone self employed, with own business account etc. ( she was also with them and didnt rate them one bit either- for same reasons) and she has had no probs (so far!)

Re: Umbrella companies
