I got a bandage change at 10.20am this morning and then after that i gotta change it at home and soak the foot in warm salty water.

The only things my foot will fir in comfortably at the moment are my work shoes which are crocs and normally big on me anyways so are quite snug with a big bandage and my slippers also fit but im not gonna walk outside with those on, haha.

During the procedure i wanted to take photos and be nosy but they had me lie down so i couldnt see much of what was happening, lol.

Re: Partial toenail removal...

It never grows back . . . they kill off the cells at the affected side apparently so it doesnt grow. ITS BLOODY SORE EH?!!! Lol! In all seriousness though, I think the worse place in the world to get an injection has to be your big toe! I had a partial removal about 10 years ago. It was a bit uncomfortable for a few days after the op but it soon wore off and I was able to get my feet back into my trainers again. Hope the throbbing stops soon!

Re: Partial toenail removal...

It didnt grow back? all mine have grown back and have ripped all off at different times some a couple of times, l tended to be a clumsy child.

Re: Partial toenail removal...

aww poor you- can totally sympathise i had an ingrown toe nail bout 8 yrs ago - OOOUCH! Was only meant to have a partial nail removal but when i had to start changing the dressings and it started to heal realised they had taken the whole nail off!Now i have a really ugly big toe with no nail!

Hope it feels better soon.

Re: Partial toenail removal...

Ive got plenty of ibuprofen, its all good, just needs to kick in now lol...

They have only removed the bit that was ingrown into the skin down to the nail bed and used a chemical to burn it off to stop the cells growing back and stuff. They also decided to take a small strip of nail on the other side as well because my nail is very curved and although i havent had any problems on that side they were worried that the pressure of the bandage anyways would cause me to have problems and to save me coming back in again to have the procedure done again.. and trust me i never wanna have it done again!!!

i havent seen what it looks like yet though cos they put a bandage on quickly cos once the torniquet came off it bled a bit! ouch!!

If this is painful after only having 2 little bits removed then god knows what a full nail removal is like!!

Re: Partial toenail removal...

Ouch never had that but ripped many toenails off my feet over the years as l go barefoot, trip up and rip them out.
