Hello Catherine- The very first agency they mention is ours- The rest of the posts are not relating to our agency. Please note that the post is almost 2 years old.... Unfortunately - occasionally CVs can slip through the net - confidentiality is of the up most importance to us- on this occasion a new starter with us made an admin error, and she received a disciplinary from myself as a result. We do try as hard as possible to ensure that this never happens- the nurse was obviously annoyed and understandably so. But considering we have been recruiting for over 8 years and this is the only time it has ever happened, we are known in the profession for quality, and for the hard work that we put in to secure the best possible match for our nurses that work for us.

Oh I'd put money on it being the same agency Claire!

My mum worked as a recruitment manager for 35yrs (non veterinary) and I keep meaning to ask her exactly what's within acceptable behaviour and who the governing body are so that I can make a complaint about harrassment. I'm going abroad shortly and apart from anything else, it will cost me a fortune to pick up voicemails but of course you don't know who it is until you've listened to the message and I can't take the risk of ignoring voicemails in case it's about something important, like dog or family.

I had problems with the agency I assume you are talking about. I wasn't looking for work and hadn't been for a few years, but I got a text off one of my referees on my CV saying good luck with the new job, just given you a glowing reference....so I called them up and they'd sent my CV to a job they assumed I'd be interested in despite the fact that I'd registered as not looking for work and did not apply for the job or even know anything about it

I have had a couple of similar stupid situations with an agency some years ago (although nowhere near as bad and not any of the agencies mentioned in previous posts - let's just say it's one that many of us don't rate!)

On the first occasion, they rang me and left a voicemail telling me all about a fantastic sounding job in my area, which sounded very similar to the one I was leaving. When I called them back, it turned out that it was in fact, MY job. I had handed my notice in (amicably) and the practice had posted the job ad with various agencies in the meantime.

On the second occasion, the same agency, to whom I had given specific instructions that I didn't want to locum for two of the practices I had previously been employed with, sent my cv to one of these practices without even asking my permission or telling me there was a job there and finding out whether I might be interested.

I have come to the conclusion that this agency don't actually read cv's, just pounce on the phone number and area and contact anyone within striking distance with a vacancy. And after about 5yrs of telling them I am NOT looking for work through them, as a locum or anything else and having never been placed through them anyway, they have suddenly started cold calling me AGAIN over the past 6mths. usually, each time, I name and shame them on here and a nice person emails me to apologise and remove me from their list, which seems to last for about 6mths and then they start all over again. AAAAAARGH!!!

I stick to "good" agencys A1 Ask for Ann Shonna Hostler ask for Jenny (the 2 mentioned deal with nurses) are discreet and great. Also do some with Carlton Professional and Kirsty but not much again though she is as the others mentioned

The others l think of as new on the block and not proved themselves good used for 3 up there is as in l trust them
