This is how my college has laid the syllabus out for us:

Each unit of the qualification is made up of a number of credits

Learners must achieve a minimum of 32credits

-19 credits from the mandatory units GroupA

-13 credits from the optional units GroupB

Learners must complete the following mandatory units:

-Delivering basic treatments to animals - 5 credits

-Maintaining animal accomodation - 3 credits

-Providing food and water to animals - 3 credits

-Principles of infection control for animal nursing assistants - 3 credits

-Companion animal anatomy and physiology - 5 credits - This is a multiple choice question paper (exam) but its marked internally and can be taken at any stage plus not all questions have to be answered in one sitting (5/6 at a time) however we must achieve 100% for all the 30 questions.

Optional Units GroupB are:

-Principles of basic animal nursing assistance - 2credits

-Control and restrain of animals - 2 credits

-Principles of companion animal pharmacy - 3 credits

-Companion animal parasitology and zoonosis - 2 credits

-Principles of companion animal anaesthesia and fluid therapy - 2 credits

The portfolio and assessments are set and marked internally and then externally moderated.

I hope this helps, i tried to explain as well as I could o_O

I'm really enjoying the course I feel i've learnt a lot and am quite relieved I didn't go straight into practice I think I would have been overwhelmed.

I wish you all the best and hope you enjoy it too!
