So sorry to hear your news. It is really is so hard making the decision but at least we are able to make that choice for them. I know at the moment you will be feeling awful but things do get easier. You will look back and know you did what was right for him. XXX

Thank you all for your advice.

Snickers was sadly put to sleep on Thursday evening. He had deteriorated and we felt that it was unfair to keep him going any longer despite him still having some good days alongside the bad. I know that we made the right decision and I knew it would be hard but didn't anticipate quite how awful this would be. I've never had to make the decision to euthanize a beloved pet before and I can say hand on heart that it was the hardest decision I've ever had to make. I only hope that he is at peace now.

Thank you all very much for your relies. Our pets bring us so much happiness but it's so hard when the time comes to say goodbye. You want to do the right thing by them but there's always that part of you that isn't ready to call it a day and just wants them to be around forever.

Deep down I know that it's not time yet.

As others have said, I think you will know when the time has come. Earlier this year I had my beautiful 18yr old cat put to sleep For the previous 6 mths, there must have been at least 5 occasion where I had thought I would have to take him the following day but he always perked up. The day before I took him in was one of those days, the following day when I woke up I just knew, I don't know what it was but something inside me made me know.

As the others have said, you will know when it is time. Its never easy when they have something wrong with them that is not going to make them deteriorate quickly as it is hard to say when they have deteriorated enough, but you will probably just look at him one time and know that it is the right time. Several years ago now I had a three year old rabbit that got pasturella that I just couldn't get him recover from. There were several occassions when I got home and thought I would be taking him in to work with me in the morning, only for him to have made a seemingly massive improvement by the morning. But one day I came home at lunch and he just looked as though he had had enough. He was a tough little guy, and for him to seem so fed up really told me that the time had come. Its not easy, and I often think in some ways that an acute problem, whilst obviously not nice, is in some ways easier as it make a decission easier to come to, but you will know.

Hi, yes you will know when the time is right.

I made the terrible decision to have my pony put to sleep on Wednesday but I just knew when I went down that morning that it was the right thing to do. You know when they have had enough but it stil doesnt make the decision any easier.

you will know when the time comes, it is the hardest decision but you will know in your heart of hearts when its right

some people will wait till they go down hill again but others will want them to go when they are playing a bit only your mum will know whens right for her and him
