Could l also suggest that you dont post anything else on here regarding this until the end of all legal action that you do a copy and paste of all you have said and then delete all comments from this thread.

I completely agree - I am not able to put the full story on here for various reasons, and I don't quite get what their problem was with me either as they won't tell me...I will let you know how I get on though - I don't intend to just leave it and not do anything.....

I agree with what some of the others have said in that I wouldn't want to work for someone who didn't think I was as important as a vet but I think it's great that you're fighting it! Thats an appalling way to be treated.

Btw, I do agree with what someone said earlier in that if they think you're not as important as the vet they wouldn't wanna work there. However, if it was me, I'd put all my efforts into winning my case for unfair dismissal before handing in my notice

Looks like I will have a case - the helpline were actually very helpful! I need to appeal the decision first, but I need my dismissal letter before I do that....I just don't think they should treat nurses like that and get away with it....watch this space.....!

You can be dismissed fairly easily if you have been employed for under a year, unless there is a case for discrimination.

Sorry, but from what you have said I doubt you have a case.

If the situation is as straightforward as it sounds, then I don't think they can simply terminate your employment, as long as you have completed a probationary period (usually 6 months). If you have a contract, then check it, but as someone has said before, it is really difficult to dismiss someone unless it is after a probationary period, due to serious misconduct or redundancy (even then, you are not allowed to employ someone else in the same position for a certain period of time).

Good luck, but be cautious in how you deal with this, as the grapevine can give you a bad reputation in the local area if you make an official complaint (not that it should affect your rights, but unfortunately it does!). Have you spoken to the vet in question? I'm assuming you normally get on, but have just had a few disagreements. Is there some other issue bubbling under the surface?

Don't want to upset you but in most cases you have to be a permanent employee for greater than 1 year... You might not have much come back.

actually no you dont always have to have had a verbal and 3 written - it depends on exactly the basis of the termination and if it comes under misconduct ( and refusing to carry out a 'reasonable instruction' could come under this as could the inability to work with colleagues depending on the exact wording on the contract) seek professional advice urgently.

I dont think thats legal either!!! There must be verbal and written warning before dismissal. What does your contract say???? Thats if you have one, from my experience we dont usually get one.
