but I have just started taking these tablets for the heaviness of the flow, I noticed a difference last month (the 1st time ive taken them) and the Dr says it sounld get better over the next few months. They can be bought over the counter but cheaper on prescription.

but be warned the tablets are huge!!!

You shouldn't have to endure that amount of pain EVERY month. For years I had exactly the same symptoms as what your suffering, it got to a point where I experienced the pain every day of the month. It was crippling and I couldnt walk or even go to work. It got to a point where I couldnt get out of bed and ended up at A&E were doctors misdiagnosed me. After a huge amount of testing ie ultrasounds/MRI, Cat scan contrast studies, xrays I still didnt have a diagnosis for my condition. The only way was if I had an exploratory laparotomy and finally I was diagnosed with Endometriosis. I had so much scar tissue in my pelvic region/intestines it all had to be removed. the unfortunate thing with this condition is that is comes back, if you don't have children/conceive. The thing is there is no quick simple blood test or scan that will show up this condition, it is only by visual inspection that it can diagnose and surgery to treat. After they recommend a contraception to help with limiting the cell regrowth and pain relief. So the pill and the mirena coil are highly recommended. Exercise is another important factor, I found if I didnt do any, I would go stir crazy in the mind, keep your self busy and get out of the depressive state. I would highly suggest that you see a gynaecologist to talk about contraception and treatment for your pain. So sorry for the long rant, however Endometrosis is a condition that isnt really publicised, i only just found out about it when I was diagnosed. It is a hereditary condition and studies now indicate that it affects 1 in 5 women aged between 18-35. If you catch it early you have a a low chance of having infertility issues.

Some months are worse than others, I have tried about 6 differnet pills and they all leave me feeling worse than before. The sife effects have ranged from headaches, nausea, vomiting, constipation (which once lead to a rectal tear... yes ouch!) skin rashes, dizziness sore and dry eyes and whatever else you can think of.

I can't risk the injection as I'd be screwed for the next 3 months if it didn't suit me, the implant goes out of the window also because I can't remove it easily. The thought of a coil knocks me sick, so again no way am I putting myself through that.

Anyhow, a dr advised me to have the mirena coil. I've never had babies, and i too almost passed out and threw up when having it put in, then spent 5months in constant agony, worse than my period pains. After having it checked it was more comfortable so maybe it wasn't sitting correctly all that time but I don't think i'd ever have one again. Now I still get cramps every few weeks, but no real periods.. and the pain is bearable.
