I'm in need of a new hair straighteners and am very undecided as to what to buy! I've had my ghd's for about 6 years and they have been absolutely fantastic!
Prior to that, I used much cheaper models that never lasted very long. As I straighten

Re: Hair straighteners - what to get?
Whats the obsession with straight hair?
My hair starts getting wavy about half way down and I hate it. It annoys the hell out of me and really itches my neck whereas when I straighten my hair it's much more comfortable. I did think about going short, like a boy cut for a while but short styles don't suit me very well as I unfortunately have rather large ears

Re: Hair straighteners - what to get?

Thank you all for your advice!

I will certainly have a look at the Salon Services website. I may very well end up with another set of GHDs though - they are good!

I used to have some cheap Babyliss ones which i thought were ok at the time. The kinks/waves in my hair tended to come back after a few hours but I just assumed that was my hair's own bloody mindedness until I got my GHD's, and now it stays straighter for hours longer after being done. They still don't keep it straight in the damn rain though - me and the dog both come back super curly!!!

Re: Hair straighteners - what to get?

I got some GHDs last year when my old straighteners broke. My mum used to be a hairdresser so my previous straighteners came from a hair dressing supply place, so whilst cheaper than GHDs were designed for professional use and I really liked them. The only reason I didn't get the same again when they broke is because I couldn't find any (I forget what make they were), and after looking at about a million reviews the only straighteners I could be confident with were the GHDs, hence my decission to buy them. They are expensive, but in my opinion they are worth it if you are going to use them regularly. They also have the advantage of being able to be used for curling which a lot of straighteners can't. I would go with the GHDs as you know what you are getting with them, and from what I have read, the cheaper straighteners just don't seem to compair.
