ahhh this essay is driving me crazy, i just cant get it to flow properly trying to fit all the patient information around the careing and nursing processes, oh well will keep going

It is absolutely hard work (not worth having if it's easy I reckon) and you definitely have to take your work-life balance into consideration, along with travel time to College etc for the study weekends...

Am doing my Dip CVN/ Dip AVN at Myerscough. Course structure good, tutors really good at teaching and very supportive. The workload is high and it is a commitment but one which will pay off. I drive up from Bristol for the study weekends but there aren't that many and Im from round that area anyway so I stay at my parents house! RVC grad dip I think is similar but dont know that much about it. Yes Harper Adams would have been closer for me to study at but I'm more familiar with myerscough in general.

The GradDipVN at RVC isn't RCVS accredited, but it is university accredited at level 6 (degree level). It does look like a very good course - and delivered mostly online, so alleviates all the travel worries...

It depends what you want from the course (in terms of attendance/support) and how far away you are.

I am at Harper Adams - it is a 3 hour drive from me (compared to 5 with myerscough!) and I am usually there one weekend (friday & saturday, staying on campus) per month. Myerscough do more of their teaching via distance learning (only a few visits a year I think) but I preferred spending more time onsite to use the library, plus having more support from the lecturers should it be needed.

I didn't go with the RVC because they only provide a few modules, and I decided against the GradDipVN as I believe as of yet it's still not RCVS accredited?

The drive isn't too bad for me (about 2hrs), but with Harper, only the 1st study day is compulsary (and exam days of course!). They hold study weekends approx once a month but all the notes are put online so as long as you're prepared to read around the topic, not going shouldn't be a problem.

Its a shame there are not more course provides as distance is going to be a problem for a lot of people. I have also been thinking about doing the diploma, but living right on the south coast, there would be a lot of travelling involved (not to mention expense) to get to the study days for all but the RVC, but they might not be the best course provider.

If you do a search on here for Dip AVN you will find plenty of threads discussing all the courses and which people find best/easiest to deal with

Personally I am going to be applying to myerscough but I did my VN training there and know them very well as well as it being closer to me. Like I said if you do a search there are loads of threads for it

I'm also doing it through harper adams and loving it! The tutors are very supportive and the structure of the course works well around work. The 'pay as you go' factor is also great for me as I'm paying for the course myself!

Im doing mine with Harper and very happy wth teaching, and fact it is flexible so easy to fit in dependant on other commitments - you dont have to complete it in a set length of time.
