sometimes yes - but when you have to go out to the coal bunker when its freezing or rake out the ashes in the morning somehow i dont feel so lucky

Well I like my paper copy of VN Times and Vet Times and I personally hate trying to find links to previous articles that dont work which is what often happens when you do an internet search (not just vn/vet times) I know there is a lot of waste which could be cut back on but I want paper copies of these, there are plenty of other things that could lost tho - like the irritating inserts that fall out of magazines and get filed straight under b for bin.but then no paper gets wasted in my house or anything else burnable for that matter, I have a coal fire.

At my previous practice the company that used to collected the rubbish used to sort out all our rubbish and recycle what could be.

I agree that a lot of the stuff we get sent through to the practice ends up in the recycling bin. I am happy to have the VN times and BVNA journal as a physical copy as I know I wouldn't read them if they were digital (I just cant concentrate on a computer, I get distracted too easily). However, I did stop receiving the Vet times as I just wasnt getting time to read it. There were things in there of interest, but with it coming every week I never really got round to looking at it. Luckily the vets I work with are the sort that will keep anything that they think will be of interest to us, so I do still get to read the articles I would have probably read anyway.
The thing that probably annoys me most is the book of all the registed and listed nurses we all receive each year. I know they are bringing this to an end, which I am pleased about as all I do, which I am sure most other people do as well, is look in there for myself and the other nurses I know, then it I never look at it again until I receive my next copy. It seems such a waste of paper and money when no one uses them and most of the information can be found online.

I think they got into a lot of doo doo from practices!!

Who needs 23 copies of a burtons catalogue?

Ok so maybe they wouldn't spend the money on anything else... but think how much they would save!!!

They can email me the adverts too

I'm not saying for a minute that I don't want to recieve them anymore... I love reading them... but I would just prefer a pdf version or something like that...

I must say, I keep all these newspapers, as a training practice i need a libury of information (that and i can't throw things out!) I usually read mine on the train/bus/car while travelling to pass the time, electronic form wouldn't interest me as at work I don't have a lot of time to read them, I strain my eyes from staring at a screen too long, and I don't have an i-pad/tablet comupter to take on travels with me. What else would the veterinary papers spend the money on? Would advertising revenue fall anyway?

Lots of questions.....

I prefer to email histories, but a lot of practices still don't like it and prefer a fax. All my lap reports are emailed and transfered straight to records via copy and paste, and the vets read them off there. I try to recycle as much as possible, inc ink cartridges (get sent to a charity who gets money for them)
