I'm looking for good books on animal histology and citology , and anatomy and physiology.
Do you recommend "Introduction To Veterinary Anatomy And Physiology Textbook" or the other purple one " The Complete textbook ... (don't remember

Re: Good books ?

I'm afraid I don't know the text myself, but I think if you're gonna save yourself 50€ by buying second-hand you may as well go for it. I have loads of books I only used once for my course last year that have come in useful since

Sorry to bother again. I'm probably going to buy an histology book because the IVAPT has pretty basic histology.

I was thinking about one by Junqueira "Basic Histology". Do you all think I should buy it or is it a waste of money? I'm probably getting one in second hand for £21 (25€) instead of £60 (72€).

I know it's a good book, I'm saying "waste" because I'll use it a couple of times for know but will it be useful during my career?

Thanks again for your patience.

Happy New Year

[quote user="Gemma Burden RVN"]I have the Introduction to Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology book and have found it really good, much better than the BSAVA textbook which have always found really lacking in the anatomy and physiololgy section (I haven't seen the latest edition yet but can't imagine it has changed that much). That said, I found the rest of the book very useful, so it is worth having a copy of as well if you can afford it. The introduction to veterinary anatomy and physiology book is a lot more detailed, and also covers exotics as well.

Does the "Introduction to Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology book " has anything on epithelium, tissues etc (citology and histology)?

Yeah it does, and from what I can remember it was really good (I don't have my copy to hand to make sure). I am one of those people that find they learn things better if they have the same information from several different source, so found this book really good and it complimented my college notes really well.

Re: Good books ?

[quote user="Katie Mansfield"]

Yes - and diagrams to show the difference. It's by Victoria Aspinall if you're searching on Amazon.

Hi again.

No , it's in my first language. But most of the books are in english so I thought I'd ask here.

I'd also like to study abroad one day and the UK is my first choice.

Re: Good books ?

There is a new BSAVA Complete Textbook which came out recently to replace the purple one. The syllabus has changed so I would definately advise this book because it includes the equine stuff that small animal SVNs now need to know as well.

The Victoria Aspinall book for Anatomy and Physiology is very good for the dog and cat, and the Equine Veterinary Nursing book by Karen Coombe (the name might be spelt wrong!) is very good for equine A&P.

Re: Good books ?

Veterinary Nurse Student at an Agrarian School in Southern Europe.

Re: Good books ?

I have the Introduction to Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology book and have found it really good, much better than the BSAVA textbook which have always found really lacking in the anatomy and physiololgy section (I haven't seen the latest edition yet but can't imagine it has changed that much).
