I liked it and made some great friends who I still see regularly. It is out in the sticks so if you don't have a car you can be quite isolated- the buses on the weekend weren't great when I was there and taxi's into Gloucester were expensive. The student union didn't really do much and the bar was nearly always empty except for the Zimbabwaens (sp?) on the rugby course who wore shorts, t shirt, sandals, no socks all year.

None of the lecturers I had are there any more

Re: Veterinary nursing science foundation degree

Hi

I have just finished at the Royal Veterinary College and I qualified in June. I did the Foundation degree which was a 3 year course. If the degree you're doing is a 2 year course, you are going to be so, so busy!! The RVC decided to increase the FD from 2 1/2 years to 3 because the students were getting very stressed and many were finding it difficult to cope with completing everything as you have to do a certain amount of weeks of work experience to qualify.

A sandwich course is 4 years long and you work unpaid in a veterinary surgery for a year in the middle of the degree.

When I applied to UCAS, I went round all the colleges and unis and I found that Hartbury wasn't that focused on nursing as it was with sport but that was 4 years ago so it may have changed now!

With regards to funding, you can apply for a non-refundable bursary from your local council as well as the usual student loan. If you live on site, go into full or half board. I did that, and I found that it was cheaper than self catering because I wasn't wasting money on food which I probably wouldn't eat!

Sorry I can't tell you more about Hartbury. Have you thought about other unis?

Good luck, and try and get loads and loads of work experience onto your CV / UCAS application as this helps a lot x
