Yep, petplan terms and conditions will cover dentals providing yearly checks have been done (and recorded) and any reccommendations have been done at the time. Never had an issue with PP paying out.

my cat is insured with petplan and was off food recently - had bloods (ok!) and had gingivitis so had dental, luckily no teeth out - did have 1 suspect tooth but was ok. petplan paid for it , just paid excess and the % you pay when they are older. think ok if you have had dental check ups yearly - ie when the get vaccination. But agree probably not cosmetic procedures - so perhaps get pre - auth done

We deal with pet plan a lot at my practice and the only dentals we find that they won't pay out for are the ones where they have been told the animal needs a dental on numerous occassions. My cat has had to have several dentals due to FORL's and they have paid up every time, including bloodds and IVFT.

Think you can claim s+p if it is to treat - eg you may do s+p to treat gingivitis.

So long as it's not preventative i.e. removing deciduous teeth before they cause a problem, cosmetic or pre existing condition/problem, they should cover the treatment. At our practice we haven't had any problems claiming for dental treatment for clients with petplan other than in the above circumstances.

I thought they only paid if it was due to an underlying condition, and not just old age. Like if they have FORLs or stomatitis etc, if it's just dirty teeth due to old age and not getting brushed daily, I don't think they'll pay.

So they'll pay for the whole lot if extractions are needed, but nothing if it's just s&p then? I think I'll get his vaccs done sooner rather than later and check if he needs anything done and get pre authorisation if necessary. Thanks :)

Hi, they wont do cosmetic dentistry ie just s+p but will pay if disease process eg gingivitis etc present, and you must have had regular checks done ie at boosters, and had any previous work carried out that was advised. Hope that makes sense
