Yay it has finally arrived. Recieved it last Friday, but have some how now managed to lose my old badge. Very annoying as had had it for 12 years!!!!

need to check my bank account at some point to chk the chqs been cleared, I think it'll turn up when it turns up. With a low cost, I bet they got unindated towards the end!

Well still waiting for my badge. Was told on the 12th Jan would be a few more weeks, and still waiting!!!!!

I sent my cheque and form off last week. It does say the engraving could take a few weeks so I'll need to just get my dad to let me know when the cheque's been cashed.

No you don't hear anything until your badge arrives. The only way I knew they had received my application was that the money had been taken out of my bank account. I sent my cheque off in October and the cheque was cashed in October, but my badge didn't arrive until just before Christmas.

We have the sort of clients that notice this sort of thing and will ask if they don't know why someting has changed. When we had new name badges with RVN on them instead of VN we got comments asking what the R was for. I just can't see that a different badge is going to help the public understand the profession any better than they currently do.

I ordered mine just before Christmas, so goodness knows when I'll get it!

I love how the RCVS are so quick to cash your money!
Slightly off topic, when I sent my registration fee in recently, I did it by direct bank transfer, so I knew it had gone in, on the 1st Nov, then I get a letter from them 2 weeks later chasing me for payment, I rang, very angry to chase it up, spoke to 4 or 5 different people, eventually to find out that the woman in my bank who sent the payment didn't put my VN number reference number on the transfer (even though I specifically asked her to & wrote it down!) so when the money arrived in the RCVS's bank they just accepted it, but didn't think about tracing back where it had come from!!!

Thanks for the posts guys. Did phone the RCVS to be told my badge had been ordered and that it will be at least another 2 weeks as sent in batches and xmas has had an affect as the engravers were closed for a week. Guess I need to learn patience!!

I ordered mine in October and it only came a couple of weeks ago. The cheque was cashed in October so it took ages before the badge actually arrived. Been wearing it since and no ones has noticed though which confirms my thoughts that a new badge is going to do nothing to the VNs.

Sent my chq off on 14th nov. No sign of Badge as yet to date. Chq was cashed on 15th dec so I know they got it!! Should I ring or be a bit more patient?????

I choose not to wear mine for a variety of reasons, but the main one is that i don't feel it makes any difference to how clients perceive us. When i did wear mine, hardly any clients noticed it and those that did still asked the age old question "when will you qualify as a vet then?". so i don't see the point, especially as i'm rubbish at taking them off and it used to go through the wash regularly

With the greatest of respect it should be an individuals choice if they want to wear a badge or not - not something that needs to be enforced.

I think all VN's should have to wear there badge at all times to show our level of qualification and the idea of our name being on it sounds good also. However, i am aware some clients don't even know what they mean etc.. I originally thought this badges were a waste of money but after hearing horror stories of unqualified people acting as nurses i wanted one to support this movement of the VN profession. xXx

I always wear my VN badge, worked hard enough for it! I don't plan on getting the new one though. I however never wear my BVNA badge, and don't use 'MBVNA'...I personally don't see the point, so what I pay to be a member?

I have never understood this either. When I first qualified I was so pleased to get my badge through and to finally look like a qualified nurse, not just someone with a green uniform. I am the only one that wears their badge at my practice, and I am always going to wear a badge (whether it will be the old one or the new one I am undecided, I'm quite attatched to my old badge), I had to work hard to get it .
