I am starting a behaviour course in the near future and, having thrown a small strop about the 'mandatory' books for the course, have been told I will be set additional essays for which I need to source a wide range of information.
Some books I like:

Behaviour Problems in Small Animals: Practical Advice for the Veterinary Team - Jon Bowen/Sarah Heath

BSAVA Manual of Dog Behaviour - Valerie O'Farrell
These two we refer to most often in our practice and find very useful for a bit of background reading, depends if you're interested in general behaviour, or behaviour problems/specific issues to veterinary practice.

There are loads of more general books aimed at non-veterinary people too.
I think I am going to look at seeing if the practice will be keen to purchase these two, they look like they could really be of some use, and not just to me!

All these ideas are great, thank you all and keep the opinions coming!

Re: Good Behaviour Textbooks?
It's really useful to see how techniques and opinions change, though some of the older stuff is still relevent today.

How Dogs Learn (Burch and Bailey). The BSAVA manual of behaviour. Dogs (Coppinger&Coppinger). Any brain/neurology books, Don't shoot the dog (K. Pryor)- and anything by her. Authers to look out for- Gwen Bailey, Karen pryor(?spelling). My minds gone blank, will look on my bookshelf\my courses reading list and see what the others are.
